Frequently Asked Questions About Mold Foggers, Answered
Nov 26th 2024
Mold is one of those unwelcome visitors that no homeowner wants to deal with. It's sneaky, stubborn, and can wreak havoc on your health and property.
Here at Micro Balance Health Products, we offer several products that you can use to tackle and control mold effectively. One of those products is our mold fogger, the EC3 Sanitizer Fogger. But what exactly is it, and how does it work? Read on below for some of the most commonly asked questions about this ingenious gadget:
What Is a Mold Fogger and How Does It Work?
What Exactly Is a Mold Fogger?
A mold fogger is a device designed to distribute a fine mist of mold solution throughout a space. It is often used in mold remediation to treat large areas efficiently and thoroughly.
Here at Micro Balance Health Products, we particularly recommend using the EC3 Sanitizer Fogger with our very own EC3 Mold Solution Concentrate. When implemented together, the mist emitted by our mold fogger can blanket all surfaces, fill rooms, and reach even hard-to-access places, such as behind walls, in air ducts, and even tiny cracks and crevices.
How Does a Mold Fogger Work?
Foggers atomize a mold-cleaning solution, turning it into a fine mist or fog that spreads into the air and lands on surfaces. This process ensures the solution can reach places that traditional cleaning methods might miss. Some foggers, like the EC3 Sanitizer Fogger, are handheld and perfect for small jobs around your home, while others are industrial-grade machines meant for larger spaces.
Are Mold Foggers Safe to Use?
Is the Fogging Solution Harmful?
The safety of a mold fogger largely depends on the type of solution you're using. If you choose to use the EC3 Sanitizer Fogger with our EC3 Mold Solution Concentrate, then you have nothing to worry about. EC3 Mold Solution Concentrate is made out of all-natural botanical ingredients that are non-toxic and safe for use even in households where children or pets are present. It’s so safe, in fact, that you can use this solution even on surfaces where food is prepared!
Do I Need Protective Gear?
You may need protective gear such as gloves, goggles, and a mask when using other mold solutions with a fogger, but not if you use EC3 Mold Solution Concentrate. Again, this is because EC3 Mold Solution Concentrate is made out of all-natural botanical ingredients, does not off-gas, and contains no harmful chemicals.
Can a Mold Fogger Completely Get Rid of Mold?
Is Fogging a Permanent Solution?
Fogging, unfortunately, is not a permanent solution. It cannot be used in place of professional mold remediation – it can help control mold and reduce airborne spores, yes, but it does not address the root cause. Mold thrives in damp, humid environments, so if you don’t fix the underlying moisture problem (like a leaky pipe or poor ventilation), the mold will likely return.
Should I Use a Fogger Alone?
A mold fogger is a great tool, but it’s not a magic bullet. It works best as part of a comprehensive mold remediation plan. You’ll also need to physically clean moldy surfaces, remove contaminated materials, and address the source of the moisture.
It’s worth noting that we do not recommend relying on fogging to improve symptoms of severe mold toxicity. If you are sick and are still living in the moldy environment – or with items from the mold environment – the volume of toxins that you are breathing will usually exceed what fogging can eliminate. The best solution is to get to a safe place where you know you can start to improve, without any items from the moldy area.
How Do I Use a Mold Fogger Effectively?
What Steps Should I Follow?
Using a mold fogger is pretty straightforward, but preparation is key. Here's a simple step-by-step guide on how to use the EC3 Sanitizer Fogger:
- Prepare the area by removing any items that may be damaged by moisture, such as important papers and electronics.
- Choose the right solution. Micro Balance Health Products recommends only using EC3 Sanitizer Fogger with EC3 Mold Solution Concentrate that has been diluted per the instructions on the bottle. The fogger can hold up to a gallon of diluted concentrate.
- Use the calibration dial to select the spray volume needed.
- Enter the room or space where the fogger will be used, and plug the device into an outlet. We recommend using an extension cord for more maneuverability around the room or object to be treated.
- Turn the fogger on and disperse the mist in a steady up and down motion, so that it fully fills and covers a room, or so that it is evenly applied all over a surface or object.
- When finished, turn the fogger off and then drain any remaining concentrate from the fogger drum.
Mold foggers can be particularly useful when you need to treat large areas quickly, want to treat the presence of mold in hard-to-reach spaces, or when you want to reduce airborne mold spores. It’s a powerful tool when used correctly and in conjunction with other remediation strategies. Whether you’re dealing with a one-time outbreak or ongoing mold issues, a fogger can help you reclaim your space.
