Two decades ago, a particularly difficult-to-treat, suffering patient, who had endured 5 sinus surgeries to remove nasal polyps inspired our founder, Dr. Donald Dennis’ “mold epiphany.” As Dr. Dennis recounts the story, the patient arrived at his office for a scheduled medical appointment after a two-week vacation to the beach and declared that, not only had his sinus symptoms subsided, but he felt the best he had in years. To add credence to his claim, his endoscopic sinus exam confirmed that he was completely clear of polyps and inflammation. Dr. Dennis carefully listened to the patient’s testimony and asked questions about the conditions at the specific beach location including temperature, air quality, humidity, and sunlight. In doing so, he recognized that this particular beach situation presented a veritable “Mold-Free Environment.”

Inspired to dig deeper, Dr. Dennis began testing the clothing his sinusitis patients were wearing and asking them to also test their homes and workplaces for mold. To do this, he used simple test plates with a special Sabouraud dextrose (SD) agar that would culture different types of molds and fungi. Many test results revealed extremely high levels of mold spores on their clothing and in their living or work environments. Simultaneous testing of these patients’ sinuses also showed mold. This connection led Dr. Dennis to hypothesize that their homes were making them sick and that their sinusitis was being caused by fungus. With mold being a year-round antigen, as prevalent as bacteria, but one that his patients could exercise some control over, his quest to aid patients in creating “mold-free environments” in their living spaces and in their sinuses began. 

Dr. Dennis then focused his attention on creating homeopathic formulas that could be safely used in conjunction with prescription medications or supplements to increase the body’s resistance to mold, to strengthen and focus the immune response, and to help the body recover quicker. Homeopathy presented a unique and underutilized means of addressing the symptom profiles of mold patients. Homeopathy uses the bioenergetic imprint or essence of an ingredient or ingredients to stimulate a healing response in the body. Sensitive and hyperreactive patients who cannot tolerate even the tiniest doses of some supplements can often tolerate homeopathic products extremely well. The products can also all be used long term or whenever symptoms arise. Thus, for a year-round antigen like mold, they made sense and helped many patients to heal without fear of rebounding, side effects, or drug interactions.He found that the long-term prognosis for his patients was better if he could make them more resilient to mold exposure by harnessing the body’s innate ability to build immunity to mold antigens. 

At this time, Dr. Dennis also began developing another homeopathic product to address endocrine and pituitary damage from mold exposure, as chronic, debilitating fatigue, and neurological symptoms, like cognitive decline, anxiety, depression, and sleep issues were notable downstream symptoms experienced by many of his patients. The toxic effects of mold in the body sometimes depleted or halted growth hormone production all together, making it difficult for patients to recover and to regain energy, even after getting out of the mold. Using the homeopathic structure of “like cures like,” Dr. Dennis formulated CellTropin with pituitary factors, Arginine and Astralagus root to help stimulate cellular repair, hormonal function, and to increase energy and cognitive function.

Initially, Dr. Dennis worked with a local compounding pharmacy to formulate and produce these products to treat his patients specifically. As he began to recognize the widespread need for independent access to natural, effective remedies for mold-related illness, though, he sought out a way to produce and offer them to everyone. 

The company was founded in 2009 with a mission to make these and other products available to thousands of suffering mold patients all over the world.
