EC3 Mold Screening Test Kit is an effective mold detection kit that includes everything you need to test for elevated levels of mold in your indoor air or on belongings. Each kit includes 6 mold test plates, as well as detailed instructions on how to perform a test for the presence of mold in your indoor air or on specific items and/or surfaces. It takes just a few minutes to test, and you can use the package insert to read your results in just 5 days.
Note: This is NOT a diagnostic test and does NOT provide information as to the species or types of mold present. This test kit does not include laboratory analysis.

If you would like to send your plates in for analysis, we have partnered with IMS Laboratory (Official Laboratory for the National Association of Mold Professionals), a fully accredited, full-service microbiology lab, to offer additional testing services. Please see the link below for more information on lab testing and to download and print the forms and instructions for those services. We advise to ONLY send in the test plates that grow out mold as lab analysis is an additional fee and is charged per plate.

Intended Use:
Malt Extract Agar is used for the isolation, cultivation and enumeration of yeasts and molds. This is a self-development test and does not come with a laboratory analysis. Each plate has expiration date printed on bottom of each plate.

DIRECTIONS: (Note: Detailed instructions and a results key are included with each kit.)
For Air Testing: Enter room or area that you wish to test. Remove test plate from clear plastic sleeve. Take lid off test plate and place open plate on a flat surface away from walls and windows. Place lid open side down next to the test plate. Go about your activities as normal. After 1 hour, place lid back on top of test plate. Seal plate closed with tape. Wrap sealed plate in aluminum foil. Label wrapped plate with name of room or space tested and date. Place wrapped and labelled plate in a drawer or cabinet. When 5 days have elapsed since the date of testing, remove the aluminum foil to reveal results. DO NOT unseal or open test plate. Use the KEY included with the test kit to determine your results. If further diagnostics testing is needed, use one of the Environmental Mycotoxin Tests. Dispose of used test plates in outside trash receptacle.
To Test Specific Items: Remove test plate from clear sleeve. Remove lid from test plate and set aside. Gently tap the item you wish to test with the plate 1-2 times. Make sure that the agar material is exposed to the item being tested when tapping. The puffs of air created from the tapping motion will cause any mold spores embedded in the item to attach to the agar material. Place lid back on test plate. Seal plate closed with tape. Wrap sealed plate in aluminum foil. Label wrapped plate with name of object tested and date. Place wrapped and labelled plate in a drawer or cabinet. When 5 days have elapsed since the date of testing, remove the aluminum foil to reveal results. DO NOT unseal or open test plate. Use the KEY included with the test kit to determine your results.
Note: Each plate has an expiration date. Use before expiration date. As plates age, water will begin to condense onto the top of plate and may pool inside the plate. When you are ready to perform test, drain excess water from the plate first. Since the plates do expire, we do not accept returns for refunds.

Returns Policy:

We will pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error in shipping an item that you did not order. Items should be returned in their original product packaging.

Easy and fast results

Healing our home
We only recently realized the moldy basement in our 1920's home has been making us sick for most of 30 years. A recent mycotoxin test revealed high levels in my husband's system , very possibly at the root of recently discovered damaged kidneys . We thought we'd have to move, until I discovered your products. After removing the mold source downstairs, we opened every drawer and closet and fogged the entire house with ec3 , lit ec3 candles, and soaked every laundry load in your laundry solution. We tested with your test plates before and after. We are shocked by the improvement!!! We can stay in our home and celebrate a joyous Christmas!!! Thank you SO much.

Super simple to use + cost effective.
Without spending hundreds of dollars on other testing, this was my first step to find out it we had a mold issue in our home. Turns out the plates are super SIMPLE to use and I pre and post tested (after using EC3 Mold Solution Spray + Candles) and the test results were phenomenal. I test periodically to make sure I am keeping mold counts low in my home to be mold vigilant.

Holy Hannah .... terrifying, but in a good way
So, I bought these and then tabled them for a week or so after receiving them because part of me wanted to know, and part didn't. I finally did it, and the results were just insane. I tested my sleeping environment (the carpet was very old, 30+ years old. ) I did three. 1 hr. air quality, a pillow pounce test, and a carpet pounce test. The first two came back with medium risk... but the carpet came back horrifying. 7 days on the fridge to cook, and when I unwrapped it, I cried. That was 4 days ago... today that carpet is GONE. We sprayed the flooring under the carpet and sealed it. The rest of the carpet in the house is now on its way out as well. Then we'll go after the ductwork, treating the subfloors, and anywhere else this might live. We can't afford professional remediation, so we are doing it ourselves. We bought two big air purifiers which are running non-stop until we get to the primary sources. Cause? I used a home steam vac to clean carpets. I thought I was cleaning and what I was actually doing was setting up the perfect storm. We peeled back the carpeting, and the flooring was MDF (sawdust particle board) which sucked in and held onto the water creating the perfect environment for mold growth. I have been doctoring for years, and NRT tested for high mold levels by 3 different healthcare professionals. Finally, we pinpointed the source after my current HCP pointed me to the EC3 test kit. One small step to pinpointing the source, and one giant step to recovering my health. Thank you for providing an easy way for everyday people to figure out their exposure source.

Good Screening tool
Used in my daughter's apt. Flooding had occurred in her living room after heavy rain. A week after, I placed trays throughout her apt. and only the place with lots of mold was the area that had flooded. Other trays had a little bit of mold, but not concerning.
