EC3 Mold Screening Test Kit, 6 Pack

We ordered two kits, one of which was covered in condensation upon arrival. I called Customer Service to check on this and they said it should be fine. However, when we used the second (wet plates) kit to test, the results came out totally different than the first time around (essentially every single plate showed massive amounts of colonies). Now we are forced to order more kits to see if there truly are the issues that showed up. I would proceed with caution if your plates come filled with condensation. --- Reply from Micro Balance Health Products: Hi, Leah, Condensation in the plates is normal and to be expected. The plates are specially designed to culture molds, so must have the right amount of agar medium and moisture in order to properly cultivate mold spores. If your results seem different, there are a lot of variables to consider, but the plates cannot culture something that is not present. Thus, if many colonies grow, it is highly likely that mold levels are heightened. Please reach out and let us know if we can answer any additional questions about testing. I recommend this test kit as it really does find the mold. I checked all my rooms. Found no mold, except in my home office. I thus cleaned and sprayed to handle any mold. I spend a lot of time in my office. I got the MicroBalance Environmental Kit. I handled the area where it tested positive. I thought it odd as the office is next to my bathroom and my kitchen, but the test showed no mold in those rooms. Later, my neighbor who lived in the apartment below me, told me that there was a bathroom right under my office, and that they definitely had a mold problem that she was getting fixed. I've never used an air testing kit before and wow! My husband and I wanted to know if we had mold spores in the air at our house so we set up tests in every room. We left it there for a little over an hour and some rooms we did not expect to have so many colonies show up! We also did a tap test with the carpet in our bedroom, which turned out to be really eye opening. These tests are super easy to do with thorough instructions and pictures on what to look for. Plus, they're really affordable!

I had water damage occur in my classroom again and was exhibiting mold sensitivity responses, but needed proof there was mold since it “wasn’t visible.” I swabbed and prepped my samples ahead of time so I’d come with what I needed. So despite the mold not being visible, there was a large result from the swabs and the water damage has been remediated and my sensitivity response is gone! Will always purchase these when mold is in question.
